Anders Wilk - the story of a promenade
photographer.
It all started with a
promenade
The Rånna Estate is the name of an
awesome location outside Skövde, a small town in the middle of Sweden. Anders
Wilk's company had premises there for several
years.
The rural surroundings invited to
lunch promenades that were shortly accompanied by a newly bought simple digital
camera. What started as a random shooting of all that looked green and
attractive quickly developed into something more
advanced.
Rather soon, every leisure moment
was spent behind the camera and Underdogphoto.com became a reality at the end of
2005, about one year after the purchase of the first digital system
camera.
The sudden realization of how
endlessly stimulating and calming it was to take pictures can be seen as odd
considering Anders' occupation as Art Director in the advertising business,
where working with different kind of images has been a main and daily task
for several decades. Or perhaps not, just because of
that.
From an underdog's
perspective
Anders does not have any formal
professional training and is totally self-taught. The disastrous grades from
compulsory school certify a thorough inability to melt in. Paradoxically, the
only thing that grew strong in those school years was the will to continuously
learn new stuff. But independently and without
leash.
A promenade in
progress
Anders' motives are often the
insignificant and the fragmentary. Beauty can be found where you least expect.
Instinctive shooting, instead of planned to adapt to commercial trends. Photos
are for sale, but the image creation is independent and draws its energy from
sheer creative joy. The promenade with a camera has only just
started!
Welcome to the image world of a
promenade photographer which never ends!
Nothing endures but
change!
